Eric and I were EXTREMELY good about staying home and keeping our social group small during the first half of COVID protocols this year. But by early August, our wandering souls couldn’t take it any longer so we booked a trip to the Oregon coast. Little did we know, we would be wandering for MUCH longer than anticipated and our “escape from 2020” would be a little too premature.
Eric and I have always been old souls when it comes to travel. Our honeymoon is proof of that. When you think of a honeymoon destination, it probably involves an exotic beach or romantic ski lodge or edgy places like Vegas. You don’t picture a minivan driving around New Hampshire hunting for covered bridges. Listening to the greatest hits by Nat King Cole. Staying at a bed & breakfast whose owners were friends with Bob Hope and every fabric & wall covering is pink and peach floral. So like I said…old souls.
Sixteen years ago, Eric and I glimpsed Vermont over the treeline while driving through New Hampshire on our honeymoon. We made a promise that someday we’d return to visit the neighboring state. It took longer than I expected, but we finally made that trip in early September last year. Turns out, it was definitely worth the wait!
