I remember sitting on the ferry to Sifnos feeling excited and anxious about what we were about to see. I had envisioned the beaches seen in movies and blue water, but I never could have imagined the island being as perfect as it was. Yes, the beaches were pristine and the buildings were really that white, but the entire way of life is what I will always remember and value about Sifnos the most.

Walking Sifnos, Part IV

Blisters will be the death of me!

You’d think Rheumatoid Arthritis would be what slows me down on hikes, but NOOOO…it’s always the simple bane of every hiker that takes me down. Our final hike on the island of Sifnos was not the trail we initially planned. We had hoped to walk Trail 6, which is a loop trail that takes you around the highest point of the island. Alas, I developed an open blister on the bottom of my foot & I knew I wasn’t “up to par” for that hike. We chose a relaxing coastal trail instead & the final destination made it all worth it.

Walking Sifnos, Part III

Trail 4 was the one I was most excited about, BEFORE we hiked it! It had secret beaches along the way & ended with a great beach town. What I didn’t account for, however, was that most of the hike was HOT & DRY! It was like walking through a desert. And the climbing, yikes! But I’m getting ahead of myself, let me backtrack.
